Video Bitrate Calculator
The bitrate YouTube recommends for your resolution and frame rate.
Recommended upload bitrate
How it's computed: bitrate comes from YouTube's recommended upload encoding table (SDR / HDR, standard vs high frame rate). Storage = bitrate × duration ÷ 8.

Questions
Should I export at exactly the recommended bitrate?
Export at or above it — YouTube re-encodes everything anyway, so overshooting costs upload time but never hurts quality. Undershooting shows as compression artifacts.
Does frame rate change the recommended bitrate?
Yes — 60 fps needs roughly 1.5–2× the bits of 30 fps at the same resolution. Double the frames without more data starves every frame.
Is bitrate the same thing as resolution?
No. Resolution is pixel dimensions; bitrate is data per second. A 4K file at a thin bitrate looks worse than 1080p at a generous one — pixels without data are blur, not detail.
