SRT or VTT — which should I take?
SRT is the safe default: every editor and player reads it. Pick VTT when the target is a web player, since VTT is the Web Video Text Tracks format.
Are auto-generated captions included?
Yes. The tool returns whichever track the video has — uploaded captions or YouTube’s generated track — and labels which one you got.
Can I get the text without the timings?
Yes — run the downloaded file through the Caption Format Converter, which also outputs plain text. Or use the Transcript Generator and pick TXT in the first place.
