Caption Format Converter
Convert between SRT, VTT, plain text, Markdown, and JSON with the right timestamp format for each.
SRT and WebVTT are auto-detected; anything else is treated as plain text.
Same job, one API call
Runs in your browser — the file never leaves this page. The API equivalent is fetching the same video with a different format parameter.
Questions
What is the difference between SRT and VTT?
Same idea, different punctuation: SRT numbers its cues and uses a comma in timestamps, VTT writes a WEBVTT header and uses a dot. Players choose which one they read; the converter keeps every cue and fixes the format details.
Does converting change the timing?
No. Cues keep their start and end times to the millisecond; only the file format changes.
Is there a size limit on the input?
No hard limit — everything runs in your browser, so the ceiling is what the tab holds in memory. Ordinary transcript files are far under it.
