Questions
What speaking pace should I use?
150 words per minute is the usual planning figure. Record one page of a script, time it, and you will know your own pace within a word or two.
How many words fit in a 60-second script?
About 150 at normal pace — 120 if you want air in the read, up to 180 delivered fast. For timed ad reads, plan under the number and rehearse against a clock.
Do numbers count as words?
Each space-separated token counts as one word, but spoken numbers take longer — “1,847” is four words aloud. Data-dense scripts read slower than the estimate.
