How it is computed: subscriber ETA uses compounded monthly growth, bounded below by the flat gain; watch-hour ETA is banked hours plus monthly hours until 4.0K. The tier lands when the slower leg does. The 10.0M Shorts-views path is not covered — most channels qualify on subs and hours.

Questions

What are the current monetization requirements?

The YouTube Partner Program needs 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months or 10M Shorts views in 90 days. A lower tier (500 subs + 3,000 hours) unlocks fan funding earlier.

Is there a faster path than 4,000 watch hours?

Two alternatives exist: 10M Shorts views in 90 days, or the lower fan-funding tier at 500 subscribers plus 3,000 watch hours. This calculator tracks the watch-hours route.

Do these thresholds ever change?

YouTube has adjusted them before, so treat the numbers as current policy rather than permanent. The Monetization tab in Studio shows what applies to your channel today.
