CPM and RPM Calculator
Work out CPM and RPM from the same numbers, and see why RPM is always the smaller one.
From YouTube Analytics — the money after YouTube's share.
Views that actually served an ad. Empty assumes all views did.
CPM and RPM
How it is computed: RPM = revenue ÷ total views × 1,000. CPM = RPM ÷ (55% creator share × monetized share). RPM is always ≤ CPM because YouTube takes its cut and not every view serves an ad.

Questions
Why is RPM always lower than CPM?
CPM is what advertisers pay YouTube per 1,000 monetized playbacks. RPM is what reaches you per 1,000 total views — after YouTube’s 45% share and after counting views that showed no ad.
Can RPM ever be higher than CPM?
No. The same revenue divided by all views is always smaller than divided by only the views that showed an ad — RPM has the larger denominator by definition.
What counts as a monetized playback?
A view where an ad actually served. Views with no ad impression still count toward the total and drag RPM below CPM.
